In theatre, his iconic plays include Chup! Court Chalu Hai, Hayavadana, and Gochi. As a filmmaker, he has directed internationally acclaimed movies such as Kairee, Bangarwadi, Daayra, and the Oscar-nominated Paheli. Returning to his first love, Palekar officially went back to painting in 2000.
